WordCamp Ed(ucation)

WordCamp Ed is a WordCamp focused entirely on educational uses WordPress. The inaugural WordCamp Ed will be held at the at the Center for History and New Media at George Mason University on Saturday, November 22nd featuring a morning of pre-planned speakers, and a barcamp-style afternoon breaking into smaller discussions and sessions.

How can I register for the conference?
Signing up for WordCamp Ed is free and easy — just fill out the registration form, tell us a bit about yourself, and let us know your t-shirt size.

How can I organize an afternoon session?
After you sign up for WordCamp Ed, you’re given automatic access to the WordCamp blog. In the coming days, we’ll give access to conference participants to also write on the blog. Check back here for updates. To organize a session, you’ll write up a post, and after approval, it’ll be published on the WordCamp Ed website for all participants to comment on. We can also organize sessions on the fly — but since we’re bloggers, we might as well post ahead of time as well.

How much does WordCamp Ed cost?
There’s no mandatory registration fee for WordCamp Ed, but we’ll pass around a hat at the conference to help defray the cost of shirts and food. We’re working with our generous co-sponsors and hosts the Center for History and New Media at George Mason University, and the Center for New Designs in Learning and Scholarship at Georgetown University to run the event.

Where is WordCamp Ed being held?
The event will take place in the Research 1 building on the main Fairfax campus of George Mason University. Parking is available across the path at the Sandy Creek Parking Deck. Driving directions to George Mason can be found online, and Research 1 and the Sandy Creek Parking Deck can be found on the online campus map. Fairfax, Virginia located 10-miles outside Washington, DC, and municipal bus service is available from the DC metro.
